The end of Xanga…

This has been a long time coming. Originally I launched this Xanga because I needed a way to communicate with the youth I was working with at the time (Metroyouthnetwork was WAY under construction). Since moving jobs I no longer have the need for this Xanga anymore (though the new website I’m working on is even more under construction). If you want to want to read my personal ramblings, check out my personal blog: asterisklog.com or become my friend on Facebook.

We’ve had some good times on this Xanga. Thanks for keeping track of me. I’ll leave it up for a little bit longer but will eventually shut it down.

Re:Generation 2008 Photodoc and Report

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hello Sons and Daughters Issachar!*

Thank You

I just wanted to personally thank you for attending Re:Generation 2008. It was great to see 180 young adults come from all over the Central Territory to experience God’s Word and worship Him together.

Re:Generation was a powerful experience through which we heard Kay Arthur and Commissioner Christine MacMillan preach about living in God’s Word and carrying His light into the world. We were challenged by the Bill Booth Theater Company and led in worship by The Singing Company. We grew in wisdom and perspective because of the heartfelt “mentor moments” as well as the scripture memorization that took place during the united meetings. It was powerful because you opened yourselves up to the Word of God and put yourselves in a position to help Him rescue a suffering humanity.

We also—as a result of the offering on Sunday—raised $665.64 dollars, money that was given to the Wilcox Home, a Salvation Army Corps sponsored social justice initiative that houses teens who have been estranged from their families. Praise God!

Next Year’s Re:Gen

Re:Generation takes place over President’s Day weekend. Plan to attend next year, February 13-15th. Now that you know what to expect, invite your friends (ages 18-29) to come with you. Represent!

What’s Next For Young Adults?

-Attend your Division’s Youth Councils. Youth Councils are a great time for you to reconnect, refocus and be inspired in your walk with the Lord. It’s also an awesome opportunity for you to give back by impacting those who are younger than you in a mentor relationship. Think you’re too cool to attend your Youth Councils? Think again. Nothing is cooler than authentic discipleship.

-Come to the Central Territory Youth & Commissioning Weekend, June 6-8th at the Star Plaza. This Youth Congress is made especially for you! Special Guests include: Caedmon's Call, Dr. Bill Ury, Great Lakes Youth Band, Joe Castillo, Ronnie Caldwell and The Singing Company (who will debut their new full-length album called “The Mercy Seat Sessions”). These Youth Congresses don’t come along every year. Make sure you are present for the experience.

-Be a part of the CBLI Young Adult Track, July 26-August 3rd. The CBLI Young Adult Track may be the best kept secret in the Territory. This intimate group meets for worship, Bible study and fellowship each day during CBLI. As a result, powerful connections are made and a strong sense of community is formed with a group of peers who understand where you are on your journey. Registration is extremely limited (only room for 50) so make sure you get your paperwork in early! The early bird fee for this track is $220.00, that’s a steal!

A Final Word

You are perfectly known and perfectly loved by God. Be faithful. Stay close to Him and in times of doubt, ask God to give you perspective (start by asking: “Who made the heavens and the earth”). Read His Word so that you will know how to understand the times and know what to do*. And in the words of Kay Arthur, “Hangeth thou in there, baby.”

Grace,

            Eric Himes

Crystal Lake Prayer & Praise Night and Youth Encounter

All we are saying is give PEACE a chance.

There is a slight change of plans to next month's Prayer & Praise Night. Instead of having it at Camp Wonderland at 8pm we are going to have it at the Crystal Lake Corps at 7pm. After the meeting, those who registered for Youth Encounter (see your Officer/Youth Leader) will go up to Camp and register and hang out and kick off the Youth Encounter experience. The next morning everyone will participate in the rest of Youth Encounter festivities (worship, prayer, winter activities, sitting by a fire, drinking hot cocoa, etc.).

If you want to just come to the Crystal Lake Prayer & Praise Night, awesome! Bring your friends.

If you also want to attend Youth Encounter after the P&PN then see your Officer/Youth Leader to sign up and register. Hurry! We are extremely limited in space for this year’s Youth Encounter. First come, first blessed!

CHANGE OF PLANS!:

Friday Night -
7pm - Crystal Lake Prayer & Praise Night
10pm - Depart for Camp Wonderland
11pm - Register and Hang Out
12am - Lights Out

Saturday
AM - Youth Encounter
